  • Described as, 'The best investment I've ever made' by many of our clients.

What is permanent make-up?

Permanent Make-up is a safe and natural looking alternative to the daily routine of applying make-up in the morning and throughout the day. It is a state-of-the-art technique of permanently applying make-up via interdermal micropigmentation. Properly applied by an experienced technician, permanent make-up will be more natural and realistic compared to conventional cosmetics.

Is it expensive?

Not if you look at the long time effect, how much you pay for liners, lipstick, mascara etc over the years, not to mention how long it takes to apply.

It is very little compared with the years that this will last you. It doesn't run, smudge or wash off. The cost of the procedure should not be the most important issue when consulting a potential practitioner.

How long does it last?

Permanent cosmetics are permanent in that you will always have a permanent marking in your skin, however over time you will notice a gradual softening of colour occuring. Many clients feel that this is an advantage as they feel their make-up will age with them.

I recommend a colour enhancement for those who wish to keep their make-up looking as fresh as possible; this would take place after around 18 months to 3 years depending on colour, body chemistry and lifestyle.

Sterilisation?

Safety and hygiene is my priority; only sterile, disposable needles are used and are disposed of straight after treatment.

Does it look natural?

Your friends and family would never know - subtle colours are chosen for that particular reason; having the correct shape and style makes all the difference. Many of our clients have gone home to their partners who ask, 'What's different about you?' and complimenting them on how well they look.

What colour would be right for me?

Choosing the correct colours is vital; by blending the colours together we can choose the correct shade and tone to match your skin tone and hair colour. Eyebrows should look natural, and eyeliner can be as faint or powerful as you require by choosing colours that will enhance your natural eye colouring. Lips again can be very natural, barely there or more dramatic.

Does it hurt?

Permanent make-up is a skin invasive procedure. Some discomfort may be felt on your first treatment and will then soon disappear; some clients have experienced a slight feeling of pressure or a scratching or vibrating sensation, and some clients have had no discomfort at all. Each client's pain threshold is different. Anaesthetic creams are used before any treatment and also during treatment to assure our clients' comfort. A few of my clients have also gone to sleep when having eyebrow treatments.

Will there be any swelling?

There may be a small amount of redness and swelling around the treated area, but this will subside. Each client is different, but swelling goes down 6 to 48 hours after treatment.

How long does a treatment take?

Treatment times can be expected to be around 1 to 2 hours depending on treatment.

Before Treatment...

During the initial consultation, an allergy patch test will be carried out by placing a small amount of pigment & anaesthetic cream onto the skin behind the ears. A health questionnaire will need completing which will determine the client's suitability for the procedure. Before any procedure commences, drawing on the correct shape is vital whether it is for lips, eyebrows or eyeliner. Once we are happy with the shape we choose the correct colour for you. We are then ready for the procedure to begin.

Top-up procedure

Most procedures will require a second visit, this can be due to a few factors, a small amount of pigment may be ejected during the natural healing process.

Anti-ageing creams, sunbeds & saunas can also affect pigments during the first few weeks of healing. Following the aftercare instructions is vital.

The first 2 weeks after the procedure is called the colour stabilization time - immediately after the procedure the colour will be darker. As the swelling subsides in 1 to 2 days, the epidermal (outer) layer of skin will gradually fade or flake off as the new layer regrows. Some colour will come off at this stage, we allow for a 30% - 50% fade during this time. Over the weeks, colour will soften; around 4 to 6 weeks this will be healed; this will determine whether a top-up treatment will be required.
